I'm always very impressed with the transfers Roger has done, judging from the clips people post on this site.

But something I notice in every clip, is how the whites appear. They're kinda cream-colored. Not exactly white, but a little off. Does anyone ever try to correct this? Would it be too much trouble to post a before-and-after of one of Roger's transfers, dealing with color correction?

Or am I just seeing things?

Either way, I do honestly think the transfers are impressive. It's just the whites that always get me a little concerned.

I've yet to send him any of my film to be transferred. It's just a matter of time before I do. Otherwise I could mess with the images myself.

Are you talking about clips transferred on the DV8/Sniper or transfers done on various privately-owned WorkPrinters?

As for the whites, I think that's how most camcorders "see" white.

I'm not exactly sure what each clip was transferred with. I think the majority are the Workprinter. I don't really see how the camcorders could be the problem. If they were, White Balancing should take care of that.

The clip shown on the cheap sound sync technique thread is an example of off-white.

Both Final Cut Pro and Avid Xpress have really excellent Color Correction functions.

I don't know if this helps, but here are two clips that I transferred with my WP. Not perfect (It was a clip that I transferred during the day and I forgot to cover the windows; hence the reflection of the camera lens in the lower lefthand of the shot.)

Both are Ektachrome 7240 VNF D8 film.

    These haven't been color-corrected.

Both clips were transferred with auto white balance.
